Why did I create The Thing

I often get asked “Why another conference? Why did you start The Thing?” well I’m glad you asked. They are questions I ask myself as I am curating the experience that we will have together at The Thing Orlando 2022.

This week Funnel Hacking Live is in Orlando, and next week is Traffic & Conversion in San Diego. These conferences spend millions of dollars on production getting thousands of people together.

That’s not what the Thing is.

There are lots of larger conferences out there and I am not trying to compete with them. I’m actually trying to do the exact opposite.

Let me explain.

I don’t want to be the same. I don’t want to try and “beat someone at their own game.”
What the thing is and does is intentionally different.
You, as a (Creator, Innovator, Entrepreneur etc) are intentionally different.

Breaking the mold and coming up with the next big, innovative thing is what we do it’s what (Thingers or The Thing Community) does.

What The Thing is really great at is knowing we are different and embracing that.

We are a no green room event. There is no “backstage” for speakers to hang out. Our speakers are sitting at the table with you, interacting with you, learning with you.

There isn’t a place where people are more committed to helping you succeed in your mission.

The community of humans that is part of the Thing on and off stage are some of the most generous and brilliant humans I know.

These are the people that go the extra mile, answer that extra question, give you that piece of advice that changes your life and business, and really create community.

What The Thing does isn’t just information. It’s not just inspiration. It’s a balance of both. It’s a place where you learn transformative tactics from people who love you enough to tell you the truth and walk alongside you as you reach your dreams.

The bottom line is I created the Thing because I know you were born to do something amazing and I don’t want anything in this world to stop you from doing it. So I have assembled the Smartest people I know to help you.

Now is the time to decide.
Now is the time to get in the room.
Now is the time to pick yourself and say I’m gonna do my Thing!

I Don’t Come With An Off Switch

I was talking with another leader yesterday and we were talking about creativity and the creation process and how people say to us, you’re always on, aren’t you?  Yes, I’m always on on. You can’t turn me off.  I don’t have a switch. You might be able to turn me up louder but you can’t turn me off. Being me has ideas show up when

Pure Imagination….and Some Thoughts on Wonka

“…Simply look around and view itAnything you want to, do itWant to change the world? There’s nothing to it There is no life I knowTo compare with pure imaginationLiving there, you’ll be freeIf you truly wish to be.” I finally managed to sneak away and catch the new prequel, Wonka. Stop Elf-ing Around & Get Crystal Clear About What You Want

Every year thousands of children climb on Santa’s lap and clearly articulate what they want from Santa. Every year at my friend Logan’s Christmas party for last almost 10 years I’ve invited Santa to sit on my lap. Partly as a joke but partly as a reminder that even Santa knows what he wants. Santa really outdid himself this year and pitched a little fit

No One Is A Solo Artist

97. That’s how many people are on the road with Lauren Daigle on the Kaladiascope Tour. My friend Leigh Holt and Lauren’s manager told me this after the show last night as the production was being torn down above our heads in Knoxville, TN, and heading to Greenville, SC. That’s how many people it takes to support a solo artist on tour. That doesn’t include

Audacious Ambition

The more I help leaders, the more I realize that success isn’t just about potential; it’s about the audacious ambition and the willingness to take action. Throughout my journey as an entrepreneur, author, and thought leader, I’ve had the privilege of working with some incredible individuals who have turned their dreams into reality. And the one thing I’ve noticed is that those who succeed possess
