That’s how many people are on the road with Lauren Daigle on the Kaladiascope Tour. My friend Leigh Holt and Lauren’s manager told me this after the show last night as the production was being torn down above our heads in Knoxville, TN, and heading to Greenville, SC. That’s how many people it takes to support a solo artist on tour. That doesn’t include the team members who never left NY, LA, and Nashville that support her. People working for the management and booking company, publicity, PR, radio, and the record label. That doesn’t include the people who produce the merch, manufacture the fog, and all of the music and gear companies. Nor the record producer, studio musicians, or songwriters. That also doesn’t include the local crew that it takes to turn a basketball arena into a concert venue and then back into a basketball arena.
There is so much talk about being a solopreneur and how bootstrapping is seen as a success. If you want to make a big impact on a stage big or small you aren’t going to do it alone.
I’m not suggesting you need 100 people to succeed on your team, but I am saying that it’s ok to have help. It’s why I do what I do. I don’t want you to not have a community that is there to support you, even if the place you are in your business right now doesn’t require 97 people to pull off.
My friend Leigh was who I was there to cheer for last night, I love Lauren she put on an amazing show. The band was on fire and it was next level at the same time she looked people in the eyes and shrunk a nearly sold out arena and made everyone feel like they mattered. Back to my friend, Leigh reminded me that you and I need someone standing with us championing our cause.
On concert nights I often miss being an artist manager. I do miss the high-fives after a great show. However, Leigh slept on the bus last night and I slept at the Hilton. I love what I do, I stand with leaders who want to make a big impact. It was fun to watch Lauren make a big impact last night and remind myself that she didn’t do it alone.
