Stop Elf-ing Around & Get Crystal Clear About What You Want

Every year thousands of children climb on Santa’s lap and clearly articulate what they want from Santa. Every year at my friend Logan’s Christmas party for last almost 10 years I’ve invited Santa to sit on my lap. Partly as a joke but partly as a reminder that even Santa knows what he wants.

Santa really outdid himself this year and pitched a little fit for the photo, after we wiped his tears he told me that what he wanted for all of us as leaders to get really clear about what we want. No stops to ask him what he wants. It’s scary figuring out what you want.

It was amazing to watch the Type A kids show up with basically spreadsheets and Vinn Diagrams with a clear directive with their list of toys and wishes for the jolly ole man. Yet how many of us have no idea what we want for our lives and with the work we do?

I call it the “Spice Girls Rule” you know, “…tell me what you want, what really really want.” Maybe you’ve been busy making sure everyone has what they want from the North Pole this year. I know I’ve been running out around looking for things like rib roasts and mushrooms of the right size cause I was in charge of the menu for Christmas Eve and Christmas dinner.

So, this December, ditch the sugarplums and get real. Define your desires. Let go of the fear, the “what ifs,” and the noise. 2024 is about to arrive, and it’s time to step into it with laser focus and unwavering clarity. January is just around the corner we don’t need a new you, the world needs a version of you that knows why you are here, what impact you want to make, and for you to be unstoppable in the new year.

While there’s no more room on my lap, sorry Santa’s a big fella, but I do have room in my Mastermind group for a couple of leaders.
