This morning I watched Wonderstruck on BBC. It’s a beautifully shot nature documentary. I was particularly captivated by an episode about Tides. Two things really stood out to me.
Low tides caused the scavengers to come out. From bears to Sand crabs to raccoons to feast on the leftovers in the sand. The whales were fine because the tides are always changing and the changing tides always deliver for them because they stay in the deep.
When the tides were rising the scavengers had to scatter because had they stayed in the same spot they would have been battered by the waves and/or buried in the sand. It also pushed out all of the small fish for the whales to feast. Just by staying where they were in the deep, you see the tides delivered to the whale.
I want to be the whale. I want to stay in the deep because that’s what I was designed for. Rushing to the shallow beaches whales. When you are made for the deep you don’t settle for scavenging the shallows.
The world is always changing. In the morning and in the evening the tides will rise and fall. Knowing you were designed for the deep will allow you to thrive.
Be the whale, let the tides come and go and commit to rising in the deep.
