Can You Learn Marketing from Jesus?

I’m probably going to offend somebody, but maybe everybody.

I had a conversation with a leader this afternoon that inspired this craziness. We keep looking for the answers to impact the world, which can already be found in history.

In the 4 gospels, we can see through the life of Jesus a master plan for getting any message heard. In Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and even into the book of Acts we see the greatest message of all time spread throughout the world.

He did it by telling stories and building relationships. When he showed up at the temple he just got mad and flipped over the tables so instead, He showed up at fishing holes, leper colonies, parties, weddings, gravesites, boat rides, homes, under trees, in trees, around meals, at wells, and in gardens. He just went anywhere there were people who were looking for hope in a world where religious people made it hard to find.

He was more interested in connecting deeply with raising up a small group of leaders than he was in the masses. You see that’s what happens when a message spreads the crowds they just come. Leaders who don’t raise up leaders aren’t actually leaders.

Everyone He went he attracted people who were burned out on religion and at the same time he offended all of the religious leaders of the day. All by telling clear stories to people ready to hear and find people that will help you spread that story.

So if you have a message of hope, don’t worry about the religious folks they will be offended anyways, go find the ones desperately in need of the message you have and tell them stories about hope, they will listen. The invest in them, that’s how the world is turned upside down….

Stop Elf-ing Around & Get Crystal Clear About What You Want

Every year thousands of children climb on Santa’s lap and clearly articulate what they want from Santa. Every year at my friend Logan’s Christmas party for last almost 10 years I’ve invited Santa to sit on my lap. Partly as a joke but partly as a reminder that even Santa knows what he wants. Santa really outdid himself this year and pitched a little fit

Audacious Ambition

The more I help leaders, the more I realize that success isn’t just about potential; it’s about the audacious ambition and the willingness to take action.
